Avoca Beach Anzac Memorial Plaque Middle Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The Avoca Beach Anzac Memorial Plaque consists of a large weathered sandstone block situated behind a smaller sandstone plinth, which features a rectangular plaque in brushed stainless steel. The plaque is inscribed in black lettering with a dedication to the men and women of Australia who served in all wars. On the right hand side of the plaque is a silhouette of an Australian Soldier standing at ease in silent remembrance with head bowed and hands resting on the butt of his rifle. The memorial is located on the eastern end of Avoca beach to the east of the Surf Club, and sits within a raised circular garden surrounded by a low sandstone wall under large pine trees. The large feature sandstone block was originally part of the old sea-wall at Avoca, which was excavated and repaired in 2019. A smaller sandstone retaining wall with a low perimeter hedge of Coastal Rosemary encircles the memorial. Anzac Day services are held at the memorial.
