Description / Background

The memorial is a simply designed timber honour roll with a small gothic pediment. It lists members of the Bingara 2/9th Field Regiment Association, with their names printed in gold across four columns on the board. The roll was created by the Association in 1995, as part of the 'Australia Remembers' government program to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

The 2/9 Australian Artillery Field Regiment was formed at Holsworthy, Sydney in July 1940. The Regiment served in the Middle East in mid-1941 and returned to Australia in 1942. It then took up defensive duties in South East Queensland, Dutch New York and Cape York. It returned to Australia in October 1944 and was disbanded in late 1945.

The roll was previously located in the Bingara Returned Services Club and is now housed at the Bingara Military Museum, also known as the Bingara Historical Society Museum Complex.
