Bingara Rats of Tobruk Memorial Tree Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This memorial tree was planted in 1991 to commemorate the Australians who fought in the Siege of Tobruk, which took place in Northern Africa in 1941 during the Second World War. Positioned at the base of the tree is a pink granite bushrock, which has a bronze plaque attached bearing the dedication. The rock stands upright on a small concrete footing. The tree is located in Returned Servicemen's Memorial Park in Bingara, NSW. The park is the site for various commemorative services throughout the year. It contains a number of other war memorials for conflicts in which Australia has been involved. Read more about the siege on the Australian War Memorial's website.
