Bingara M.U.I.O.O.F. First World War Roll of Honor Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The memorial is a simply designed timber roll of honour. It has a carved pediment at the top with a gold painted scroll decorating the board header. The names of 10 veterans who served in the First World War from the Bingara Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows (M.U.I.O.O.F.) Lodge are listed below in gold lettering. A gold letter 'K' denotes three veterans who lost their lives. The Loyal Rose of Bingara Lodge No 160 of the M.U.I.O.O.F. was established by March 1897. The Bingara M.U.I.O.O.F. constructed an Oddfellows Hall after permission was granted by The Grand Annual Movable Committee of the Manchester Unity Lodges in May 1901 (The South Coast Times, 11 May 1901). The roll of honour would have been dedicated in the hall for those who enlisted in the First World War. The date of the unveiling is unknown. The memorial is now located in the Bingara Historical Society Museum and is available for viewing during museum opening hours or by appointment. Do you know more about this war memorial?
