The memorial is a community hall built to commemorate those from the area who served in the Second World War. The hall is a typical design of the post war period with a galvanised iron roof constructed of timber and fibro with a double timber doorway at the front. Above the entrance is a double gable roof line with the name and date of the hall written over the entrance.
Following the Second World War, the Boambee War Memorial Hall Committee was formed and established a fund for construction of the new hall. Early fundraising included a dance and euchre party in the Bonville Hall in October 1946 (Coffs Harbour Advocate, 1 November 1946). By the end of 1946 the proposed size and facilities for the new hall were outlined by Mr Robert Thompson at the Boambee P & C Association's end of year concert and presentation (Coffs Harbour Advocate, 17 December 1946). Further events were held over the next five years to raise funds including cooking competitions, card evenings, and socials such as the annual American Tea Party and sale of goods.
In August 1953 the President of the Boambee War Memorial Hall Committee, Mr Richard King, called for tenders from building contractors to provide labour and material for the proposed Boambee War Memorial Hall with the closing date of 7 September 1953 advertised in the Coffs Harbour Advocate, 14 August 1953. The exact date of the hall's opening has not been determined.
