Cookardinia First World War Honour Rolls Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background In the early to 1920's names were put forward for those to be recorded on an honour roll for the town of Cookardinia. A decorative timber board was made by Harry Goldman of Melbourne. Goldman was born in Bristol, England and his business specialised in custom made furniture using exclusively Australian timber. The Cookardinia Hall was built in 1912 and in 1924 it was destroyed by a storm. The hall was rebuilt and officially opened on 13 March 1925. It was called the Cookardinia Soldiers Memorial Hall. At some point the word 'Soldiers' was removed and it is now known as the Cookardinia Memorial Hall. The 1920s board hangs proudly within the hall. Located on the grounds of the hall is a separate memorial plaque established in 2018 for the 'Centenary of Peace' in remembrance of those who served in the First World War.
