Marrickville and District Second World War Memorial Middle Image Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The Marrickville and District Second World War Memorial consists of a bronze sculpture and two bronze honour roll plaques. It is positioned in the centre of a circular garden bed, planted out with rosemary bushes. The striking sculpture is a contemporary representation of the Rising Sun badge of the Australian Army. It was made by sculptor Andrew Poppleton. Positioned at the base of the sculpture are the two honour rolls, which include almost 600 residents of Marrickville and the surrounding areas who served in the Second World War. The memorial was unveiled on 11 November 2016. It is located in Marrickville Park, also known as Livingstone Park. Also on site is the Marrickville Sparrow Force and Timor Memorial Garden.
