St Paul's Presbyterian Church First World War Honor Roll, Mudgee Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The memorial is an ornately carved and polished timber honour roll, which commemorates members of St Paul's Presbyterian Church, Mudgee, who served in the First World War. The names of 50 veterans are listed alphabetically across three panels and printed in gilt. Each name is set within a small box. The top of the centre panel is decorated with paintings of the Australian flag and the Union Jack. At the top and bottom of the memorial are small supporting shelves. Carved timber columns, topped with distinctive finials, border each side of the roll. The memorial was constructed by Messrs Stoddart and Sons. The honour roll was dedicated and unveiled at St Paul's on 16 September 1917. Prior to the dedication service the Mudgee Town Band played and marched with the Senior Cadets to the church. The service was conducted by Reverend R Bourne Garner in front of a large congregation, and after the sermon the honour roll was unveiled by Mrs A Robertson and Miss Enid Shannon (Mudgee Guardian and North Western Representative, 17 September 1917). The memorial is open for viewing when the church is open for services.
