Wellington Methodist Circuit First World War Honor Board Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This solid timber honour board was created for members of the Wellington Methodist Church who served in the First World War. It was made by Murray Bros, furniture manufacturers of Wellington, NSW, and features distinct architectural details associated with the company. At the top of the board is a Gothic-shaped arch, which highlights the name of the church. There are also small shelves set above and below the soldier's names that are printed in gold on the centre panel. The board was unveiled at the church on 5 August 1917. The Rev. S. W. Bonnor led the service and Mr A. P. Rose performed the unveiling. The well-attended event was reported in the Wellington Times the following day. The article said: The honor board, which is beautiful in design and workmanship, was executed by Murray Bros., and the lettering and decoration was excellently done by Mr. A. V. Brown. The board has been suitably placed in the arch above the choir gallery. The memorial is now located within Wellington Uniting Church and is available to view when the the church is open.
