Woronora River RSL War Memorial Middle Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The Woronora River RSL War Memorial is a brick and sandstone slab wall, with steps on either side. It features two silhouette sculptures of soldiers in slouch hats, holding rifles in the reversed arms position. The wall is inscribed with the words 'Lest we forget' on the upper level and 'We must never forget' on the lower level. There are also six bronze plaques attached to the wall. Five of these are the emblems of the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, Royal Australian Air Force, Australian Women's Services, and Merchant Navy. The sixth is a dedication plaque from the Sutherland and Districts sub-Branch of the National Servicemen's Association of Australia. The memorial is located on the left-hand side of the carpark of the Woronora River RSL Club. It is surrounded by lush gardens and is accompanied by three flagpoles. Plaques for individual veterans are attached to an adjacent wall.
