Description / Background

The memorial consists of a sandstone veneer base surmounted by three columns representing the Australian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The memorial was erected to commemorate the 750 men who attended the Hawkesbury Agricultural College and served in the First World War. These men were students, former students, lecturers, and other employees. The memorial also stands as a monument to every Australian who has served in all wars and conflicts.

A large metal honour roll attached to the front of the memorial lists the names of the men from the Hawkesbury Agricultural College who died in the First World War. A second plaque outlines the history of the memorial. The memorial has a bed of river rocks at its base and is located within a grove of established trees with a number of Lone Pine trees and an extensive lawn in the foreground.

The memorial was commissioned by the Richmond and Windsor RSL Sub-branches and constructed with funding from the Federal Government's 2015 ANZAC Centenary Local Grant Fund.  The memorial was unveiled on 25 April 2015 at the ANZAC Ceremony held in McQuade Park, Windsor. It was later moved to its present position at the University of Western Sydney Hawkesbury Campus in July 2015 with a dedication ceremony held on 9 July 2015.
