Molong Second World War Memorial Plaque Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This simple bronze plaque is dedicated to those from Molong who fell in the Second World War. It is located in the local Soldiers Memorial Town Hall. Apart from the dedication it features the emblem of the Australian defence forces. The Molong Express, 8 April 1949 published a detailed report on plans for the Anzac Day commemorative service to be held on 25 April 1949. It was to be the same as in 1948 but on this day Mr John Howse, M.H.R. for Calare was to unveil a memorial plaque. The unveiling ceremony was to take place immediately after the wreath laying prior to the commemoration. The event was covered in the Molong Express, 27 April 1949. Mr Howse stated the memorial tablet "would act as a constant reminder of what the men and women of this district did for their king and country." Inscription 1939 1945 "They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them."
