Description / Background

Two Lone Pines are located in the town of Mendooran, near the Mendooran Memorial Club. The mature tree is accompanied by a monument at its base, with a dedication to those who served in the First World War. The second tree is a newer planting and is surrounded by a white metal fence that features crosses inscribed with the names of eight district soldiers who lost their lives in the war. The metal fence replaced a previous timber version after it was damaged.

Inscription

Monument

This tree comes from a seed off the Lone Pine at Gallipoli. These crosses are in memory of those men from Mendooran who died serving in WWI. May they R.I.P.
