Auburn West Public School Second World War Honour Roll Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This war memorial is a polished timber honour board featuring a carved pediment and columns bordering the left and right sides. There is a smaller single column positioned vertically in the centre of the board and small shelves at the top and bottom of the board. The names of 64 ex-pupils of Auburn West Public School who served in the Second World War are printed in gold, in alphabetical order across two columns. There is also a painted gold cross before the name of one ex-pupil, F Henderson, indicating he was killed. Auburn West Public School was established in 1927. It is notable that so many ex-pupils enlisted in the Second World War. The memorial is situated on the rear wall of the stage in the school's assembly area. The school conducts an annual Anzac Day assembly. The construction and unveiling dates of the memorial are unknown. The lettering on the roll was restored by the Auburn RSL sub-Branch in September 2007.
