Description / Background

The memorial is a white marble lamp post, standing on a stepped pedestal. The memorial features a dedication and honour roll in lead lettering, and is decorated with engraved symbols, also highlighted in lead.

The Mudgee Guardian, 5 November 1903, reported that the memorial being erected to the memory of those from Rylstone who fell in the Boer War would soon be finished. It was hoped that there would be a fitting ceremonial dedication on its completion.
