Description / Background

The memorial is a flagpole dedicated to Kenneth Ernest "Ken" Jackson, a Dunedoo Second World War serviceman. The flagpole is located in the Mendooran Memorial Park, on the northern side of the Mendooran Merrygoen Memorial Club alongside the First and Second World War Memorial Wall.

Kenneth Jackson was born on 5 August 1918 in Dubbo, NSW. As a resident of Dunedoo, he enlisted in the Australian Army in Paddington on 24 May 1940.

The flagpole was donated by Mrs Rita Jackson in memory of her husband and was dedicated in November 2008. At the base of the flagpole mounted on a concrete block is a bronze plaque featuring the Australian Army military emblem in the centre, the service details of Kenneth Jackson and the date of dedication.
